

Buildings & Grounds Committee Purpose: To plan and implement projects to maintain the efficient operation of the buildings and the beautification of the grounds. Time commitment: Varies according to projects. Contact: Jim McManus or Loretta Tarter (631) 265-2200 Catechists - Religious Education Purpose: To share our Catholic faith and values by educating the children of the parish in small home classes and to help prepare them for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation. Time commitment: Classes meet one hour, once a week, for 24 weeks. Catechist workshops are held 4 to 5 times a year to help Catechists prepare for their classes. Individual preparation at home varies. Contact: Karyn Gillan or Judy Viskupic Catholic Ministries Appeal Purpose: Gives parishes the opportunity to support financially the many programs and services provided by the Diocese for all of Long Island. Time commitment: During several Sundays each year volunteers are needed after Sunday Masses to assist with pledge cards. Contact: Dot Christensen, Barbara Lofaro Consolation Ministry Purpose: To offer comfort and concern of our parish to those who have lost a loved one in death. Volunteers listen to the needs of the bereaved and assist them in preparing for the funeral Mass. This ministry also includes those who volunteer to bake cakes as an offering of consolation from the parish. Time commitment: Depends on responsibility. Bakers make a cake and deliver it to the bereaved family. Companion meets with the family and assists at the funeral Mass. Contact: Deacon Owen and Helen Farley |
